Art21 Preview Party

Saturday, October 10, 2009 - 3:30pm - 6:00pm

Join us for the Art21 Preview Party and be the first to see Transformation before it airs on PBS October 21, 2009.

Transformation is the third episode in Season 5 of the Peabody Award-winning television series, Art:21-Art in the Twenty-First Century. This episode poses the question, "How does art change and adapt over time?"

Whether satirizing society or reinventing icons of literature, art history, and popular culture, the artists in Transformation—Cindy Sherman, Yinka Shonibare MBE, and Paul McCarthy—inhabit the characters they create and capture the sensibilities of our age. The Art:21 series has been developed to showcase the work of living artists, provoke critical thinking and problem solving and inspire new ways of teaching and learning through the study and appreciation of contemporary art.

Following the screening, stay for a panel discussion moderated by local artist and teacher Brooke Hunter-Lombardi. Artists, teachers, and students will reflect on the episode as well as their own relationships to "transformation" in art and life.

Free and open to all. Local hand-roasted coffee is generously provided by Café Brioso. Adult Content
