School Partnerships

In addition to our tours, we have K-12 learning partnerships with various private and public learning institutions. These partnerships have produced interdisciplinary projects and learning experiences as well as opportunities for community engagement.

OSU Urban Arts Space partnered with Columbus School for Girls for the [Ways of Knowing Water Exhibition]. The students visited the gallery space, toured the Lazarus building’s rooftop garden, and learned about water conservation. In addition they participated in a sketching and writing response exercise, creating their own artworks and stories about the exhibit.

The OSU Urban Arts Space also partnered with Marion Franklin School [Columbus Public Schools] to produce the theatre performance, When Arts Collide. The Space worked with teacher Todd Decker and his advanced theatre students to create a non traditional spoken word, instrumental music, and movement performance. The work was inspired by the OSU Urban Arts Space retrospective exhibition of painter and emeritus professor Alan Crockett. Students had the opportunity to meet with Professor Crockett and discuss the connections between the visual and performing arts and how they have informed his life. These connections were beautifully illustrated in the resulting public performance.
