Reception
Saturday | October 2 | 2 to 5pm
The OSU Urban Arts Space proudly presents Art for Alix Reese, a 6-day benefit to support a valuable member of the Columbus community.
While driving on May 27, 2010, Alexandria Reese was struck in the neck by crossfire on the east side of Columbus. The bullet severely damaged her spinal cord, paralyzing her from the shoulders down. Despite her injuries, the 25-year-old remains positive and strong.
Alexandria, known to family and friends as Alix, is well known and loved for her endless support of the Columbus community. Benefits have been held in her honor throughout the city, in artistic venues such as Kobo, Wholly Craft, and Glass Axis.
Embracing Alix's love of art, the OSU Urban Arts Space is hosting a benefit with artwork, raffles and live performances to raise funds for the victim's medical bills and life-long care. Artwork donated by local artists will be available for purchase through a silent art auction. Guests can also purchase raffle tickets for the chance to win several prizes, generously donated by Columbus area businesses. Proceeds from the sale of artwork and raffle tickets will go directly to Alix's family.
Artwork will be up for bidding and raffle tickets will be available for purchase from September 25, 11:00 am to October 2, 4:30 pm. Winners will be contacted directly following the closing reception.
Note: Winning bidders and raffle tickets holders do not have to be present at the reception to receive their artwork/prize.
The closing reception will be held on Saturday, October 2, from 2-5pm.
Guests of this event will not only have the chance to support a fellow community member, but also to witness the work of rising Columbus artists and get a chance to sample Columbus' independent and homegrown businesses.
