Saturday, February 22, 2014, 5-7PMIn an exhibition that spans a range of contemporary art practices, The Mirage and the Rainbow represents a varying array of works from the graduating class of MFA candidates. Each student has arrived at this point through different paths and the intersection of intensive studio work, research, and experimentation. The title makes reference to visual phenomena that are captivating, yet fleeting-they occur when the conditions are right.This annual exhibition is an opportunity to sample an array of current directions in contemporary art, fresh from the studios of professional artists who are completing their Master of Fine Arts degrees in the Department of Art at The Ohio State University.Artist Panel Discussion with Mirage and the RainbowFriday, February 21, 2014, 1-3PMEight of the MFA candidates will discuss their thesis work featured in The Mirage and the Rainbow. Come hear about the concepts, materials, and processes that drive their work in media ranging from ceramics and photography to sculpture and performance. Bring your questions for an interactive discussion.
