
Call for Art: Intersections Pop-Up Exhibition
Overview:
Urban Arts Space is excited to announce the theme for March's Artist Commune, our annual pop-up exhibition: Intersections. We invite artists of all mediums to submit work that embraces the interconnectedness of creative communities across Columbus. Whether visual art, film, performance, technology, music, a compilation of it all, or something else entirely, we encourage artists to delve deep into their imagination and personal experiences to create works that reflect what it’s like to stand at the intersections of community.

Objective:
The objective of this exhibition, told through various artistic mediums, is to highlight the artists who work at the intersection of creativity and community organizing. We aim to create a thought-provoking and visually captivating experience, sparking conversations and reflections on the concept of intersection.
Artistic mediums include but are not limited to:
– Painting and Drawing
– Spoken Word (please submit a video or audio file)
– Poetry
– Photography
– Sculpture
– Design
– Performance (please submit a video file)
– Theater and Film (please submit a video file)
– Video & New Media Art
Submission Criteria:
– Ensure your artwork is consistent with the themes of Intersections.
– Each artist should submit no more than two pieces.
– Artwork should be ready to be installed, including framing and any necessary hanging equipment.
– If chosen, artists must sign an artwork liability waiver form.
– We can only include a limited number of artists, particularly in the realms of spoken word and performances that might also be performed during the reception. We have monitors and headphones for playing recordings of those works during the exhibition run.

Monday, March 10: Selected artists will be notified.
Saturday, March 22 and Monday, March 24, 2025: Art Drop-off Deadline*
Saturday, March 22–Thursday, March 27, 2025: Install
Friday, March 28, 2025, 6:30–8:30 PM: Reception and Celebration
Friday, March 28–Saturday, April 5, 2025: Exhibition Dates
Monday, April 7–Tuesday, April 8: Art Pick-up Deadline*
*Artwork must be dropped off and picked up during the dates listed above between 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Central Ohio artists preferred.

Tuesdays–Saturdays: 11:00 AM–6:00 PM
Thursdays: 11:00 AM–8:00 PM
