NoBody There
On view at Hopkins Hall Gallery
NoBody There is an interactive theatrical installation that explores intimate encounters with strangers—how impossible they are right now; how beautiful they will be to recover on the other side of this pandemic. An empty park bench sits alone in space. As guests sit on the bench, a disembodied voice is heard, as if someone were sitting right there next to them. While the guest is seated, they hear several randomized texts written by Tom Dugdale, Assistant Professor in the Department of Theatre, Film and Media Arts. In conceptualizing, writing, programming and sound designing this piece, Dugdale undertakes a performance that asserts itself through absence rather than the bold corporeality that defines most solo performance.
Electronics and Technical Direction - Chris Zinkon, Department of Theatre, Film, and Media Arts
Urban Arts Space intern, Genevieve Wagner, recently conducted an interview with Tom Dugdale. Learn more about the project here:
NoBody There is presented in partnership with Urban Arts Space's Hybrid Arts Lab, a multi-venue learning lab that experiments with how art is imagined, made, viewed and understood.
