John Fergus Family Scholarship and Exhibition

Applications for the 32nd Annual John Fergus Family Scholarship are now open! The exhibition will take place in January 2024 at Hopkins Hall Gallery.

The John Fergus Family Scholarship is a juried art competition open to studio-based visual art and design students at The Ohio State University. Students submit their work for review by a jury of faculty from the departments of Art; Arts Administration, Education and Policy; Design; and History of Art. Scholarship winners receive a $1,000 scholarship applied to their student account and exhibit their work at the annual Fergus Scholarship Award Exhibition, a group exhibition featuring work selected from the scholarship recipients' applications.

Urban Arts Space is now closed to submissions for 2024 exhibition proposals. Please check this space in the fall of 2024 for new potential opportunities.

While solo proposals will be considered, applicants are encouraged to collaborate and emphasize ideas that foster conversations representing diverse perspectives. Projects could include gallery exhibitions, performances, audience participatory work, discussions, research demos, and more.

This opportunity is available to applicants who are currently studying, living, or working in the state of Ohio. Proposals will be reviewed by a committee of community-based members and representatives from The Ohio State University.
