acrylic painting 2024

Painting of eight friends in a bedroom, one friend lays down on the bed while another attempts to put long shiny white boots on their feet.

During the summer of 2024, I began my series trans[land]scapes. This body of work reflects on the ritual of transition, the importance of trans spaces, and the love I feel for my community as a trans man. We deserve moments of gentleness, care, and the freedom to imagine and play. I feel such gratitude to the community that helps me cultivate that in my life. With this series, I sought to document those moments and the spaces where we take care of each other, where we dream together, and where we can simply be.

In this painting, t4t, I depict a humorous exchange between two friends of mine, one forcing a boot onto the other’s foot as onlookers watch with a wide variety of emotional responses. For us, it was a funny moment of play and gender expression, possible through the safety of the community we keep.
