2024-11-16 13:00:00 2024-11-16 15:00:00 Diasporic Dumplings Demonstration Diasporic Dumplings explores a sense of territory and resilience through ingredients harvested from the immediate surroundings. The project considers indigenous plants, as well as the invasive species that have adapted to a new life, far away from home. The project takes on new ingredients in each city it travels: Ottawa, Vancouver, Toronto, Victoria, Missisauga, Brooklyn, and now Columbus, OH. The event will be led by product and food designer Amanda Huynh as she walks participants through her project, One Lovely Hour, on view in the with__ faculty design exhibition. One Lovely Hour addresses culturally appropriate food in long-term care settings, particularly for immigrant older adults living with dementia.The short design lecture will be followed by a dumpling demonstration, showing four different "folds."
