digital traces: a live performance from home

On view at UAS Online

Collaborating virtually from their own homes, Kylee Smith and Davianna Green, MFA students in the Department of Dance, present digital traces: a live performance from home—a live digital portrait of each artist and a rumination on rituals of rest and identity. Using digital technologies, the artists bring themselves together in virtual space via both live and pre-recorded material. By exploring portraiture as a generative site for countering social norms which often view Black women as interchangeable, the artists explore what it means to view one another as a digital double on screen. In doing so, they consider key aspects of their own identities and curate an intimate setting wherein they can find rest.

digital traces: a live performance from home is presented in partnership with Urban Art Space’s Hybrid Arts Lab, a multi-venue learning lab that experiments with how art is imagined, made, viewed and understood.
