Manifested Dreams

Created by MFA dance candidate Davianna Green, Manifested Dreams works to change the stereotypes that surround Black women by curating a safe space to amplify and affirm their experiences. In many instances, Black women are not given the agency or opportunity to portray themselves from their own gaze; or their stories are missing from the world all together. This restorative project process places power in the hands of the creators, allowing the artists to dictate their own narrative and ultimately heal. Through Manifested Dreams, Green, in collaboration with BFA dance students Simone Burnett and Thaliyah Cools-Lartigue, uses art as an impetus for the radical change and transformation that Black women need living in the 21st century.
Manifested Dreams is presented in partnership with Urban Arts Space’s Hybrid Arts Lab, a multi-venue learning lab that experiments with how art is imagined, made, viewed and understood.
