Kira (She/Her) is a fourth year pursuing a dual degree in Studio Art and Animal Science with a minor in Human and Animal Interactions. She is a Community Engagement Intern at the Urban Arts Space. Kira has an interest in a wide variety of visual arts, including oil and gouache painting, alcohol marker illustrations, drawing, ceramics, and digital art. She loves scientific and anatomical illustrations of animals and likes to explore animal and humanoid subjects within her own art. She also enjoys animated films and TV shows, novels, and a variety of music. Kira believes that all of these art forms contribute to bringing people together on a personal and societal level. When she's not drawing, Kira loves to read, cook, bake, and visit her friends. She also loves exploring local cafes around Columbus.
Kira is very passionate about bringing art to different communities. Through her work as the president of the Digital Art Club at OSU and now as an intern, Kira hopes to invite people of all backgrounds to come together to share their art and inspire one another to keep creating. Kira is also very interested in the variety of relationships shared between humans and animals in our world. Whether these animals are companions, working partners, livestock, or simply members of our shared environment, Kira is passionate about exploring what these relationships mean to both the humans and animals. She also loves seeing how animals are utilized within different forms of art and how their presence contributes to the meaning behind a work.
Kira would love to remind others to pursue what makes them happy. She has found that doing this in her own life has been a great help to her. College has taught her that it’s never too late to pursue what you love, whether it's a different major, career goal, or personal ambition. Taking small steps to pursue something you're passionate about, even if it’s unattainable at the moment, is essential to help assure you can live as fulfilled a life as possible for yourself.
