Community Engagement Intern

Education

  • Major: BFA

Ashton Reeder (he/him) works as a Community Engagement Intern at UAS and is studying Painting and Drawing in OSU’s BFA program. He is a practicing artist in Columbus, primarily painting in oils while spanning across various media. His figurative work explores collective emotions under cultural and systemic violence, seeing art as a necessarily political and personal gesture.

When spending time outside of class and work, Ashton can ideally be found scouring the Columbus Metropolitan Library system and local bookstores to find his next favorite anthology/essay or working on pieces in his studio with his cat, Pumpkin.

Ashton has a particular interest in the history of community-led resistance movements in the United States and participating in mutual aid. He is passionate about media accessibility, censorship and self-publishing, and is working towards distributing zines of his own.

Ashton has made some of his best choices through the lens of his own mortality, and invites you to find your own spirit of YOLO (or memento mori) when evaluating your true desires.
