Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Emma is a Community Engagement Intern at the Urban Arts Space. She is currently in her third year at Ohio State University pursuing a degree in English Literature with minors in Organization and Performance Psychology, Theatre, and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. They are also a social media manager for two student organizations: OSU’s Paranormal Club and the Science Fiction and Fantasy Creative Writing Club (Sci-Fan).

Growing up, Emma knew she was born for the stage. From infancy to graduating high school, they participated in competitive dancing, drama club, choir, band, and musical productions. Now, Emma still dabbles in dance, as she enjoys how movement can often convey what words can’t for her. However, they also enjoy expressing themself with words through the medium of creative writing because she’s always had an expansive imagination. Her favorite genres to write are fantasy, science fiction, and poetry.

During their free time, Emma enjoys reading books and articles, watching movies, playing video games, and pursuing YouTube for a good video essay or DJ set. If there is a piece of media to be consumed and dissected, she is more than ready to do so. They are very passionate about exploring every detail the world offers them and sharing their knowledge with those around them. Since childhood, Emma has dreamed of being a storyteller so she can get the ideas out of her head, both fiction and nonfiction, to share them with the world.

Influenced by their ambitious goals, Emma lives by the idea that nobody can live your life for you, so do it. You owe it to yourself to live the life you want, fearless of judgment or sticking out from the crowd.
