For nearly a century, the Lazarus department store was a giant in the Downtown Columbus landscape. The monolithic structure occupied nearly four city blocks between High, Front, Town and State streets. After the store's closure in 2004, windows that had once been blocked were re-opened, and the brick and terra cotta façade on the exterior was restored. Modifications were made inside and outside the building to make it the ideal home for new commercial, cultural and restaurant tenants.
Although this historical structure has transformed, reminders of its heritage remain. Join us for a behind-the-scenes walking tour of the Lazarus building to view rarely-seen memorabilia, historic and renovated structures, and a tour of the LEED Gold Certified Rooftop Garden, which supports the building’s rainwater collection system. The building tour will also feature curator’s tour of “Pattern Thinking” on view in the Lazarus Building’s Urban Arts Space. Light refreshments will be served at the public reception following the tour.
Space is limited, please RSVP here.
