Columbus Makes Art Presents Ajanaé Dawkins on Beyoncé, Poetry and Lineage
Ajanaé Dawkins, Urban Arts Space’s current Community Artist-in-Residence, is a poet, performer and theologian based in Columbus. Her upcoming exhibition—No One Teaches Us How to Be Daughters—considers the epidemic of missing Black girls and women.
Katelyn: Where is your favorite local spot to write?
Ajanaé: My absolute favorite right now is the COSI lawn. I bring a blanket, my books, notebooks and a sun hat. I take off my shoes, spread my toes in the grass and work. Second favorite, Portlock Manor. Third, in my bathtub.
