About Perception

Katie O'Loughlin, Matt Pevear; Department of Dance, Department of Art

About Perception emerged from a playful process with a magnifying glass. Both artists are completing research around private/public, perspective, and the multidimensionality of how humans see. The artists use lenses and glass objects to refocus the eye on unseen layers, distorting video images while filming. This blurs the boundaries of the expected, challenging the possibilities of what we see, reframing what is, or could be, there. This project imagines an environment where the unseen complexities of being a human can be revealed.

About Perception is presented in partnership with Hybrid Arts Lab, a multi-venue learning lab that experiments with how art is imagined, made, viewed and understood within physical and digital spaces.
