Offered on the second Saturday of the month, Art Explorations is an interactive arts education series that provides an opportunity for children ages 4 to 11 and their families to create art in a gallery setting, with a goal of instilling a sense of art appreciation. Art Explorations encourages an interest in the arts and aims to develop participants’ cognitive skills, self-esteem, and self-expression. The program is free and provides opportunities for families to develop a range of artistic techniques to explore current exhibits at Urban Arts Space.
November 2020 Virtual Art Explorations: Paper Puppetry
Join us on November 14th at 1pm for Art X: Paper Puppetry. We will explore a variety of techniques that can be used to create your own puppets and put on a show from home. Recommended for ages 4-11, but, as always, adults are welcome to work alongside!
Suggested materials for guests:
- Paper (can be computer paper, notebook paper, construction paper, or anything that's on hand)
- Scissors
- Tape or liquid glue
- A stick to support your shadow puppets (can be an actual stick, toothpick, q-tip, or even a pencil/pen)!
If you require an accommodation such as live captioning or interpretation to participate in this event, please contact Merijn van der Heijden. Requests made two weeks before the event will generally allow us to provide seamless access, but the university will make every effort to meet requests made after this date.
