Reception: Thursday, June 4, 6-8PM
Beyond Our Walls presents new work by 32 artists as a continuation of Fresh A.I.R. Gallery's tenth anniversary celebration. The artists represented range from their inaugural exhibition to the present. Through art, Fresh A.I.R. (Artists In Recovery) Gallery educates the community and work to break down the stigma of mental illness and/or substance use disorders by bringing focus to the artistic vision. Many of their past exhibits demonstrate the courage and struggles of the artists as they combat stigma and address social issues. Fresh A.I.R. Gallery is a project of Southeast Inc. Healthcare Services, a comprehensive provider of mental health, chemical independency, physical healthcare, and homeless services for Columbus and six surrounding counties since 1978.
Fresh A.I.R. Gallery met a milestone in 2014 by celebrating 10 years as a nonprofit art gallery with a mission to exhibit the works of individuals affected by mental illness and/or substance use disorders. Since they opened their gallery doors in September 2004, they have shown 60 exhibitions, displaying the artwork of over 200 artists, and sold more than 250 pieces of artwork totaling over $60,000 in which all sales go directly to the artists.
