Opening up a dialogue across disciplines, “An Extended Handshake” will be a conversation between OSU faculty member Michael Mercil and artists Brianna Gluszak and Hannah Parrett, as part of their A Prolonged Handshake exhibition. Topics that will be explored include questions surrounding varying languages of abstraction, gender disparities, materiality in practice, and the relationship between the physical act of making and image. “An Extended Handshake” is a way to discover new ideas about the work through the collaborative act of discussion.
