Post-MFA Fergus Fellowship recipients Andres Felipe Castelblanco Olaya and Hannah Walsh will exhibit works created during their residency in the Department of Art at The Ohio State University.
Andres Felipe Castelblanco
Felipe Castelblanco is a Colombian multidisciplinary artist working at the intersection of participatory and new media art. Through urban interventions, video, interactivity and networked installations, his work creates new experiences of publicness and coexistent encounters between audiences across vast distances. Felipe is currently developing a body of work that imagines air as a material embodiment of the public sphere.
Hannah Walsh
Hannah Walsh brings together a body of photographs, videos and objects that engage ideas of subjectivity, naturalness and embodiment. The scientific gaze is brought into conversation with a series of intuitive gestures – each kind of knowledge confounding the other.
Funded by the John Fergus Family Fund, these annual, internationally competitive fellowships in the Department of Art offer emerging post-MFA artists the opportunity to have a studio, teach, lecture and exhibit at Ohio State. Their presence and participation in the Department enriches the experience of students in all areas of studio-based practice. The John Fergus Family Fund was established with gifts from John C. and Elizabeth O. Fergus, and Robert H. Fergus in honor of their mother, Edith Fergus-Gilmore. It is the strong belief of the family, and the overriding philosophy of these awards, that it is important to give back to one's community.
