Soft-Shift/Material-Guilt

Britny Wainwright & Loraine Lynn

On view at Hopkins Hall Gallery

Soft-Shift/Material-Guilt brings together works by two Ohio artists that hold a deep understanding of inherent material qualifications but choose to passively resist the dogmas of craft. Britny Wainwright and Loraine Lynn explore the “mis-performance” of abstraction that occurs in material transformation. The contrasting materials and methods of these two artists, ceramics and fiber, intends to spark dialogues and a productive rethinking of material, labor, and craft.
