OHIOCENTRIC: City Center Gallery's All-Ohio Juried Exhibition

Saturday, February 18, 2012 to Saturday, March 24, 2012
Urban Arts Space

Reception

Saturday | February 18 | 1 to 3pm

In honor of the Columbus Bicentennial, City Center Gallery hosts its first all-Ohio juried exhibition: OHIOCENTRIC.

While City Center typically focuses on the Columbus community, we are excited to include artists from all over Ohio in celebration of the capital city's 200th anniversary. The gallery celebrates its city by featuring 62 works of art by 50 Ohio artists based in areas in and outside of Ohio, including Columbus, Athens, Whipple, Milford, Pennsylvania and New York. OHIOCENTRIC is not a Columbus-themed exhibition—artists were encouraged to submit works that represent their own individual interests, which together create a momentary composite of Ohio's unique, collective reflection.

While no grants were given to accepted artists for OHIOCENTRIC, guest juror and Riffe Gallery Director Mary Gray will select prizewinners for awards of: first prize ($350), second prize ($100), and third prize ($50).

Prizewinners:

First place: Palli Davine Davis for her collection of works from the Holding Stones Series
Second place: Boryana Rusenova Ina for her painting, Postcard Homeland
Third place: Kate Shannon for her video, Construction/Deconstruction
Fourth place: Rojer Williams for his painting, Winged Tin Tin
Fifth place: Rachel Clark for her painting, Studio Self
Sixth place: Tyler Bohm for his mixed media work, Sigil-2
