Wanyi is interested in contemporary art, particularly how globalization, the east-west relationship, and commercialization have influenced contemporary Chinese art representation and philosophy. She is a big fan of art museums and galleries; whenever she travels to a new location, she checks to see if there are any ongoing shows. As a UAS intern, Wanyi is excited to learn how to run an exhibition, arrange lighting, and install artwork (essentially, everything about curating an exhibition).
Wanyi has been practicing and studying Chinese calligraphy for ten years and is also interested in watercolor and photography. She would like to become an amateur artist someday.
Besides art and academics, she enjoys baking and hiking. Her favorite book is Hermann Hesse's Siddhartha: "I have always believed, and I still believe, that whatever good or bad fortune may come our way we can always give it meaning and transform it into something of value."
