Ashley Martin is a Washington, D.C. native whose work as an artist and community advocate is grounded in storytelling, identity, and social impact. Using oils, glass, and canvas, her paintings explore the depth and complexity of Black skin, movement, and form, with series like Bodies in Space, The Couch, and Finding Home centering vulnerability, belonging, and self-definition. As the Community Engagement Internship Coordinator at Urban Arts Space, she builds pathways for young creatives to engage with the arts and community work in meaningful ways. Whether in the studio or through mentorship, Ashley's work is about creating space—for conversation, for reflection, and for Black expression in all its nuance.
