Ky Smiley is a fourth-year Fine Arts student, pursuing a specialization in photography, with minors in African and African American Studies and Arts Entrepreneurship. He pulls inspiration for his photography from Black literature and media. Based in Columbus, where his family also resides and with whom he spends his free time, Ky feels lucky to collaborate with family frequently in his work. Ky is passionate about investing time into creative spaces where individuals who look like him see themselves thriving. Ky’s words to live by come from Audre Lorde, who states, “There are no new ideas, there are only new ways of making them felt.”
