Fervent Fruition and Grieving Landscapes present an unexpected collaboration between two artists of different disciplines within the same space. Upon learning they could share the gallery, Cohen and Lawson jumped at the chance to explore where their individual projects might intersect. The thematic touchstone of collective grief unites their work, and with that subject in mind, January’s Artist Commune event—where artists gather at Urban Arts Space to create art and network—will focus on expressing personal grief through a free SoulCollage® workshop.
Alongside trained facilitator MJ Abell, participants will create collages from found images, allowing introspection through imagery. This interactive mode of self-discovery presents a chance to play and create something intuitively or with intention and reflection. Founded by Seena B. Frost, SoulCollage® is an easy, enjoyable, and intuitive process.
Visitors are invited to stay for the Grieving Landscapes performance at 6:00 PM as well as the closing reception for both shows from 7:30–8:30 PM at Urban Arts Space.
This is a free event, but attendees are encouraged to RSVP so that enough supplies will be available! Participants are invited to bring their own photos to incorporate into their collages.
